Current focus areas

Drug discovery

We are creating more effective medications to regulate the electrical activity in brain and heart and discovering new ways to repurpose existing drugs for treating epilepsy.

Cell therapy

We have played a pioneering role in developing a medial ganglionic eminence (MGE) cell therapy for intractable epilepsies, based on the transplantation of inhibitory interneurons to restore inhibition and stop seizures.

Gene therapy

We are exploring the possibility that specific genes can be delivered to the brain with high precision, influence nerve function and reduce seizures.
