Call for nominations for Graduate and Postdoc Positions in the
NINDS T32 Training Program in Epilepsy Research

Nominations are requested for the NINDS T32 Training Program in Epilepsy Research starting July 1, 2025.  New appointments are for one year with potential to be reappointed for a second year. The training program supports both senior graduate students and new postdoctoral scholars.

The ideal candidate has an excellent record of productivity and great promise for pursing neuroscience research. Research topics should be relevant to epilepsy, including cognitive and emotional functions which may be impacted by the disorder. Research projects can involve any level of analysis, including molecular, cellular, physiological, computational and bioengineering approaches. The program is limited to US citizens and permanent US residents.

Graduate student nominees must have completed at least two years of academic training by July 1, 2024 (i.e., beginning their third or fourth year of study).

Postdocs should be in the first 2 years of training.

To nominate a candidate, please use the online submission form below. Each nomination package should include the following information (as a single PDF):

  • A 1 page letter of nomination from the candidate’s advisor. Explain the candidate’s project, why the candidate is a good fit for this training program, current productivity and potential for a career in neuroscience. The statement should also acknowledge that the advisor and candidate are aware that acceptance of a training grant position comes with certain program obligations and include statements of willingness to participate in training activities.
  • Candidate biosketch (see NIH fellowship Biosketch format: https://grants.nih.gov/grants/forms/biosketch.htm). Please include the scholastic performance section (section D).
  • A 1 page research plan, including relevance to epilepsy.

The nomination committee will evaluate all applications, and successful applicants will be notified of support by the end of May 2025.

Thank you,

Tallie Z Baram & Robert Hunt
